There is a sport for everyone in the area, with excellent clubs and facilities, including Blackrock Bowling & Tennis Club, Elm Park Golf Club, Blackrock College Rugby Club, Avoca Hockey Club, Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club as well as Mount Merrion Football Club. Newpark Sports Centre has a 25m swimming pool, while gyms in the area include F45, Educogym, Crossfit 536, as well as Reform Pilates and Ashtanga Yoga studio.

Schools

For families with education in mind, some of the best primary and secondary schools in South County Dublin are on the doorstep, including Willow Park, St. Andrew's Junior School, Booterstown National School, All Saints National School, Blackrock College, St. Andrew's College, Loreto College and Rosemont Park.

Clonkeen College, Newpark Comprehensive, Oatlands College, University College Dublin and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School are all in close proximity also.

Retail/Shopping

Frascati Shopping Centre and Blackrock Shopping Centre are right on the doorstep of Glensavage, and are both extremely well serviced with supermarkets, fashion stores, pharmacies, hairdressers, barbers and bookstores, amongst many others.

Also nearby is Stillorgan Shopping Centre, and includes Donnybrook Fair, The Natural Bakery, Tesco, and many fashion boutiques. Dundrum Town Centre is also just a 10 minute drive away.

For families with young children, the area is well serviced with creche and childminding facilities, including Links Childcare Blackrock, Willow House Childcare, Cocos Creche and Simbas.

Restaurants

Blackrock has no shortage of excellent restaurants and cafes, with a wide variety of food options. These include El Celler (Spanish tapas), Shake Poke, Lebanese Tapas, and the Michelin star holding Liath. For coffee drinkers, there is Bear Market, The Vanilla Pod, The Wooden Spoon, Insomnia & Starbucks, amongst several others.

Recreation

There are plenty of recreational amenities in the area, with lovely parks such as Carysfort Park and Blackrock aork. Also nearby is the ODEON Cinema in Stillorgan and Blackrock Library, while Dun Laoghaire Pier is just a 10 minute drive away for a very pleasant walk. Blackrock Market is a great weekend option for some food tasting and finding handmade arts and crafts.
